Quick Overview

I have this book and it was an amazing read.  The kind of book you don't want to end and when it does you just sit there and cuddle the book and promise to read it again.  The story of Clarrie Pankhurst's life is one of extreme hardship but an amazing humor and zest for life comes through.  Anne Marie Ingham has captured and recorded Clarrie's life brilliantly.  There must have been so many 'outback pioneers' whose life's have  gone un-recorded and their stories are lost.  What has been recorded must be treasured!  We had the pleasure of meeting and having a meal with Clarrie Pankhurst in Camooweal and as we had already read the book we were able to re-live many of the stories that are in the book.

Clarrie at that time was 75 years old and had come back to visit Camooweal for a trip down memory lane and to meet up with some old friends.  There is a
museum at Newcastle Waters which displays a lot of our pioneering history and well worth spending a few hours browsing through the displays.  A Great Read.  Jan,  Emerald Vic.
